weekend thrift shopping = FUN!!!!!....and cheap!

I went shopping over the weekend and found some really neat vintage items for really cheap...which is what I like! My favorite place to shop is about an hour away from where I live, but it is so worth the drive. It is a Hospice flea market and I have found the best things there for yard sale prices! It doesn't hurt that it's for a good cause, too. Here is what I found over the weekend...

I was very excited to find a Pyrex "spring blossom green" mug for $1.50. It looks brand new! I found this cute Gemco juicer for $0.50, the chopper for $0.50, and the flower syrup cruet for $1.00. I have to add that I saw the same chopper in an antique store on the same day for $18!
I love, love, love vintage restaurant ware that is made in the USA. These nice Shenango plates were only $1 each and the mugs were $0.50! They also look brand new...
My mom bought these gorgeous glasses for herself, but ended up giving them to me. YES! :) The tall ones were $1 each and the small ones $0.50 each.
 Lovely!!!
I found this Homer Laughlin platter for $4, a Homer Laughlin mug for $0.50, and the Buffalo bowls for $1 each.

I was a very happy thrift shopper!!! :) Thanks for looking...

It's almost the time for...

Yard sales!!! On a sunny day like today here in North Carolina, I can't help but be really excited about two things this Spring:

1. YARD SALES!!! :)

2. The Liberty Antiques Festival in April. I have never been but I know it is  going to be amazing! The sale is on a 100-acre farm and no crafts or reproductions are allowed. Just "truckloads of antiques and collectibles." And...yes...I will be taking off work for this one. :)

It's all about the thrill of the hunt, isn't it?

Pyrex...and a cute idea...

Here are a few pieces of my vintage pyrex...

.....and here is an idea from my mom's kitchen. A juice decanter with Christmas lights inside. So cute! :)

Thanks for looking.

FiEsTa :)

Hello! I got the rest of my Fiesta out of the china cabinet today for a photo session. Most of it is vintage...but there are a few newer pieces mixed in. My favorite color Fiesta is the light green! Now that the Fiesta is back in the china cabinet, I can breathe!!!

Thanks for looking! :)

...a peek!

Here is a peek at my collection. Better pictures to follow...I am just so excited that I had to share now! :)

The top picture shows all of my Fiesta plates, saucers and bowls as well as two cute juice decanters and two cute canisters. The Fiesta plates are so heavy, that I had to move them from my china cabinet because I feared the shelves would break...

The lower picture shows a Dormeyer mixer (from the 50's) that still works! I bought it an antique store for $10. It was in need of a good cleaning and the cord needed to be replaced. No one in my area repairs small old appliances, but my dad ended up replacing the cord himself. This is one of my favorite vintage finds!

Thanks for reading. :)

...a bit more...

Hello! I would like to elaborate a bit more about myself. I am a 23-year-old student/veterinary assistant. I am on my way to pursuing a career as a registered nurse. I still live at home with my parents. Since I am still in school, I am not really in a place in my life where I would be able to be on my own yet. I love to go shopping for items that I will one day need, so hopefully, when I am able to move out on my own, my place will already feel like a home! Vintage shopping is also something that my mom and I can do together, so that makes the whole experience all the more enjoyable.

I went to an area flea market today and found some great finds! I found a vintage Pyrex loaf pan in my favorite pattern, "spring blossom green." I also found a vintage fiesta yellow tumbler and a light green bread and butter plate. These are the types of items that I usually look for when I shop.

I am going to be posting pictures up of items as I find them, but also items that I have already added to my collection. I have only been collecting for about one year, so I am still a new collector. Thanks for reading! :)

Hello! My name is Emily and I am just learning how to blog. I absolutely love to scour flea markets for goodies and to go antique shopping. This usually surprises a lot of people, because girls my age are usually into much different things. In my free time I LOVE to go shopping for inexpensive vintage housewares---usually for the kitchen. I love vintage Pyrex, Fiesta, glassware, restaurant ware, etc...

I want to share my passion with others who love thrifty vintage shopping as much as I do!
